Monsterís Poll Reveals that 58% of UK Workers Are Considering A Career Change

Monsterís most recent poll of workers across the UK shows that more than half of the UK workforce is considering a complete career change

Monsterís most recent poll of workers across the UK shows that more than half of the UK workforce is considering a complete career change. According to the poll, 58% of UK workers are planning to retrain at some point in the future with only 5% claiming to love the career theyíre currently in.

Monster Meter recently asked over 2,000 UK workers, ìHave you ever considered having a complete career change?î and the overall results revealed the following:

58%: ìYes, Iím planning to retrainî
10%: ìYes, but not for a few yearsî
7%: ìNo, it would take too much time/effort to make a complete changeî
5%: ìNo, I love the career Iím inî
20%: ìNo, I canít afford the drop in incomeî

Workers in Spain are the least likely to find job satisfaction, with a massive 82% of workers planning to retrain. French and Finnish workers also show a strong trend in this direction with 70% of the workforce in both countries considering alternative careers.

Although many UK workers would consider a change in career, there are those that would not make such a move because of the time and effort involved, with the strongest barrier to such a fundamental transformation being the expected drop in income and the subsequent effects on the lifestyle of UK workers. 24% of Irish and Hungarian workers cited this as their main reason for not changing career and 20% of Swiss and UK respondents also expressed the same fear.

Respondents most satisfied with their careers were mainly in Hungary (14%), Germany (13%), Denmark (12%) and Sweden (11%).

ìOur poll shows that there is widespread dissatisfaction with general career choice across UK and the rest of Europe and many workers are looking to make improvements to their working lifestyle,î said Andrea Bertone, Regional Director, Europe West.
