A Corporate Marketing Manager at The Royal Bank of Scotland, Teresa Fitzgibbons, was surprised by her colleagues who had organised a special graduation for her. The event, which until the last minute had been kept a secret from Teresa, was planned to celebrate her completion of the Professional Diploma in Marketing from CIM Academy.
I had never graduated in anything before, said Teresa, who was taken aback when she entered the office for a scheduled meeting to find the room full of work colleagues in anticipation of her graduation. It meant a lot to me that my friends and colleagues had arranged all this within a few weeks and managed to keep it a secret. What made it even more special was that Pat Mani and Neil Scurlock from The Chartered Institute of Marketing had travelled down to be a part of it. I was incredibly touched and proud
Teresa had originally missed the formal graduation ceremony for CIM Academy due to chicken pox. The original plan, as put forward by one of Teresaís friends, had been to organise a special dinner. With The Chartered Institute of Marketing involved as well, the dinner plan was soon extended to a special graduation in the office. The event involved a lot of hard work and preparation from Teresaís friends and even included a special graduation gown and mortar board, supplied by The Institute.
Teresa was absolutely speechless, said Steve Revill, a colleague of Teresaís from The Royal Bank of Scotland I know her as a friend as well as a work colleague. It felt great to see her so happy and I am very proud of her achievement. The department has certainly benefited from her newly acquired knowledge.
