UniGroup UTS has appointed Paul Bernardt (38) as managing director. He replaces Cor Wismeijer, who becomes chairman of the supervisory board after serving as managing director for over 15 years.

Based at the head office in Weesp, The Netherlands, Paul Bernardt joined UniGroup UTS in 1994 as quality manager. He then became an account manager, global account director, and was appointed deputy managing director in May 2005. Fluent in four languages, Paul lives in Amsterdam.

Cor Wismeijer joined UniGroup UTS as managing director in 1993, and was elected chairman of the supervisory board at a shareholdersí meeting in Rome in April this year. The supervisory board supports the management team and oversees the activities of UniGroup UTS on behalf of its shareholders, who consist of some 130 agents from within the organisation, a unique structure in the move management industry. Cor replaces Thomas Hanbo of ICM Kungsholms of Sweden, who had served on the board since 1999, the past year as chairman.

Cor Wismeijer said: ìI started when the company was still in its early stages and during my 15 years I have seen many changes, mostly for the better. During these years Paul and I have worked closely together and I am sure that he will continue to grow the business.

ìCreating move management centres in various countries, re-structuring the way we promote ourselves, and refining our brand and positioning are already reaping the benefits of new business, and assisting us in retaining the business we already have.

ìPaul will continue focusing on the commercial development of the organisation, securing new global accounts, and retaining existing customers.î
