Lucas Group Targets In-House Counsel with Specialized Recruiting Efforts

Lucas Group, an executive search firm, announced its Legal division has enhanced local recruiting efforts in Texas for in-house counsel positions.

Lucas Group Legal recently added associates in the Texas market that will focus solely on corporate legal department placement not only in Texas, but nationally as well.

Demand for in-house counsel at all levels is increasing, and companies report that these positions often require highly-tailored skill sets that are difficult to find. The challenge is compounded by the greater need for soft skills among in-house lawyers, such as judgment, team-orientation, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently.

We are seeing corporate legal departments continue to drive value by cultivating the specific skills their companies need, said Courtney Sapire, a senior partner and in-house counsel expert with Lucas Group Legalís Houston office. Itís no secret that growth in the energy sector has increased the need for lawyers with experience that companies either cannot easily find in their outside counsel, or prefer to develop for themselves. As a result, we see energy businesses offering more competitive compensation packages for high-demand practices areas, including energy-related commodities trading, FERC, domestic and international exploration and production, gathering, and processing and refining.

Beyond the energy sector, companies in many industries are implementing diversity hiring initiatives.
