Following an intensive judging process, Neil Smith, Managing Director of Engineering, Manufacturing and Technical recruitment specialistís, Kinetic plc has been announced as a finalist for the ìInstitute of Directors 2007 North West Director of the Year Awardsî.
Smith, 47 has been M.D of Kinetic plc for the last 5 years, where he has overseen a strategy of diversification in the Companyís shift from predominantly being a supplier of industrial labour in the North West to become a renowned provider of both nationwide and overseas recruitment services to the Manufacturing, Engineering and Technical industries. Part of this strategy includes the establishment of a division focussing on recruitment in the niche Oil and Gas sector; an accolade to Smithís successful vision and leadership is the growth of this division from start-up to over 18million turnover in less than three years.
Smith, along with the other two finalists was narrowed down from a record of 180 nominations and a short list of 54 for interview by a stringent judging panel, which included Ann Jordan, North West Chairman of the IoD. This yearís winner will be announced at the IoD Gala Dinner on 20th September at City Stadium Manchester, which is being hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald OBE.
