Jobs growth and salaries rise in the capital in August

The London jobs market is strengthening, supported by strong underlying demand for staff, according the latest London Labour Market Report from Bank of Scotland. Employment agencies noted a broad-based rise in vacancies over the month.

However, consultants indicated that candidate availability struggled to keep pace with additional staff recruitment. Increasing skill shortages and strong demand for staff contributed to a further rise in wages in August.

At 61.8, the reportís unique ëBarometerí posted its highest reading for twenty-seven months in August and signalled a strong rate of growth in the labour market in the capital. The latest reading was above the national average for the tenth consecutive month.
