The second annual Excellence in Human Resources program selected Sharlyn Lauby, SPHR, and president of ITM Group, Inc. as an honoree for her career achievements in the human resources profession. The program is supported by the Human Resource Association of Broward County (HRABC) and the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management (GMSHRM) and was held at the Signature Grand on Thursday, July 13, 2006.
Lauby was one of ten honorees who were selected from a field of 31 finalists from Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties. She was chosen for her contributions to the profession, her educational pursuits, and her involvement in the community.
ìI have always been an advocate of HR leaders assuming the role of a strong businessperson within their companies.î Lauby said. ìTo be recognized by South Floridaís leading HR professionals tells me that they embrace that message to the benefit of the profession.î
During her 18 years as a human resources professional, Lauby has earned a reputation for bringing business solutions to reality. She never viewed her role as ìadministrative.î Rather, she views human resources as a strategic partner - the marketing department for a companyís internal clients. The same strategic message is what she brings to her clients as president of ITM Group, Inc., a human resources consulting firm that Lauby founded in 2002.
In 2005, Lauby was named the Human Resources Professional of the Year by HRABC. That same year, she was voted the 2006 president-elect for HR Florida, the statewide affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Sharlyn earned a bachelors degree from the University of Central Florida, and is recognized as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from SHRM and as a Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) from the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA).
