It is National Hug Your Boss Day….Today!

Friday, 9th September, it is the celebration of National Hug Your Boss Day in the bid to promote and develop healthy working relationships.

Launched in 2008 by Global Job Board, TipTopJob, National Hug Your Boss Day, has built a wealth of research behind working relationships through surveying thousands of employers and employees. For example, new research tells us that 47% rate their relationships with their co-workers as ‘excellent’. Only ¼ of accountancy and finance professionals socialise with their boss in comparison to almost every sales and marketing professional who frequently do. 20% of employees would swap their boss for Mark Zukerberg and can you believe that a whopping 79% of employees have shouted at their boss in anger? There are 80 new Facts and Stats released this year that can be found on the website.

National Hug Your Boss Day celebrates “healthy” working relationships and offers advice to overcome issues and difficulties where relationships are suffering. Encouraging employers and employees to be more aware of their relationships helps with the realisation of whether more time should be invested into developing them. Better relationships equal higher morale and motivation and ultimately a more productive workforce and organisation. A simple equation!

Corinne Hutchinson @ TipTopJob.com, comments, “Friday is all about some fun. Getting involved takes minutes. A simple picture or video can be uploaded to any social media platform and shared using the hashtags #hugyourboss #hugyourbossday. We really hope to see more hugs being shared this year and people enjoying them!”
