A new series of informational meetings covering a variety of topics relevant to IT professionals has been launched by the Irish Computer Society (ICS). In addition to their convenient lunchtime slot, these lectures can be attended in person or over the internet via web cast provided by ICS Partner onlinemeetingrooms.com

More than 60 attendees participated in the seriesí first lecture entitled Security Professionals Network Launch, held on the 30th November. Nearly half of the audience opted for the interactive web cast alternative. Taking part in todayís lecture from his office in Roscommon, Hariss Shah of the Roscommon County Council said: ìThe Lunchtime Lecture has helped me stay up-to-date with industry information without having to travel. Overall it saved me time and money; itís convenient and very useful.î

The lecture series has been developed for the needs of IT professionals throughout Ireland. ìThe ICS Lunchtime Lecture series has two distinct advantages: not only are the lectures held during lunch hours, they are also web cast to cater for those who cannot attend in person due to geographic location,î said ICS President Mary Sharp.

Plans are underway to create an archive of the web casts on the ICS website, which will be available to ICS members.
