Figures Show Growth

A survey by Fletcher claims that by the end of the year, the UK will have 18.8 million people on line. This compares to estimates of between 8.2 - 11.1 million online in 1999 from InternetTrak and Continental Research respectively. Fletcher also belives that 50m was spent in internet advertising last year. Jupiter expect this to grow to 200m in 2001.

InternetTrak reckon that in 1999, 61% of UK internet users were male. In total, Continental believe that 74% of users are ABC1s. NOP, in a december 1999 survey found that the age group that uses the internet are those between 25-34 (37%).
