It has been announced today that Steve Hyde, CEO of Inspired and Hamblyn Selection, has been elected as Chair of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s Marketing, Media and Creative (MMC) sector group.

REC MMC is the voice of recruiters working within these sectors. Within the past year, the group has achieved over a 200 per cent increase in its membership.

Its major priority now is to drive best practice, professionalism and ethics in the sector.

Steve Hyde began his career in full-service advertising agencies, initially at Foote Cone & Belding in 1981 and then with Saatchi & Saatchi for 14 years. In 1988, he was one of the founder members of the Zenith Media and held positions there ranging from Broadcast Director, to Head of Strategic Communication Planning and Executive Director. Steve then founded Hamblyn Media Selection, which places high end candidates from senior executives to international CEO level across all communication disciplines as well as strategy, finance and HR.

Commenting on his election, Steve Hyde, said:

“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with REC MMC members at a time when the sector has been going through a difficult period, when pressures on members have been immense. It is vital that clients realise the full benefits of our service and we in return offer them added value.

“In addition to our ongoing campaign on standards and ethics, our group will focus on promoting the positive role of communications and PR professionals especially following the cuts in Government communications staff announced this week.

“We will look at analysing and foreseeing skills shortages in the sector and also assess the benefits of online recruitment and the use of social media as part of employer resourcing and recruitment strategies.”
