IABC's Job Centre Takes Off

Communication and PR job board listings increase in April

Communication and PR job board listings increase in April

The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Job Centre has seen a noticeable increase in
job postings during the month of April, hinting that, in spite of the slow job market, many companies are continuing to hire for communication-related positions.

We're seeing job postings from Fortune 500 companies, universities, and associations all looking for positions ranging from entry-level to vice presidents, said Julie Freeman, ABC, APR, IABC president. While it's too
soon to say this signals a recovery for the communications job market, it certainly offers hope to job seekers in our profession.

The Job Centre recently added a new feature to help match job seekers with employers. The Job Agent tool allows job seekers to register their job criteria and have all relevant jobs automatically emailed to them.

It's creates a win-win situation, said Freeman. Job seekers can get the first crack at the latest openings, and employers can know that their job postings are not just posted on the job board, but are also being e-mailed
straight to the mailboxes of the most relevant candidates. The Job Agent makes job seeking and feeling more proactive for both parties.

For the Job Seeker The Job Centre also offers free, anonymous resume posting. Job seekers can
update their resume at any time and can indicate their desired location, communication function and industry. The Job Centre also offers tools for saving and organizing job postings, resumes and cover letters and can access
the site at no charge.

For the Employer/Recruiter The Job Centre allows employers and recruiters to retrieve real-time ad statistics on their job posting, detailing how many people viewed it; keep
notes on candidates; stores communication with candidates and positions ads as highly searchable for the job seeker.

Employers can search the Job Centre's bank of more than 3,000 resumes, by job seeker's location, skills, work experience and education. They can also organize and save resumes using the My Recruiting feature.

Originally launched at the International Association of Business Communicators' (IABC) annual conference in Chicago, Ill., the Job Centre is the most visited page on IABC's web site, with as many as 1,000 unique visitors per day.

The price for job postings is U.S. $99 for IABC members, and U.S. $145 for non-members for each job listing. Listings are posted for up to 45 days and can be removed at any time.
