Huntress is delighted to announce that Carrie Burgess, one of our top temporary workers from Exeter, has been highly commended in a competition to find the United Kingdomís top temporary workers. Carrieís commendation came in the Agency Office Worker of the Year sector of the One In A Million Award presented annually by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC). The award is one of the major activities the REC organises during its annual National Temporary Workers Week, which runs from June 5th to 9th, celebrating the hard work and contribution made by the United Kingdomís 1.2 million temporary and contract workforce, which Gareth Osborne, the RECís managing director refers to as ìÖthe envy of Europeî.
Carrie was nominated for the REC Awards by Huntress Exeter with whom she registered in March 2005, choosing temporary work after leaving a challenging and well-paid job as an IT manager to embark on a career in nursing. Carrie is currently taking a Biology A-level and is planning to take up a place at the University of Plymouth based in Exeter this autumn to study for her nursing degree. Huntress assigned Carrie to Regen SW, the South West Renewable Energy Agency, where she has taken on a variety of projects from filing and updating databases to running numerous, often complicated events such as conferences and training days.
Regen SW said of Carrie: ìShe consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty with her work and provides us with the buzz that keeps our team together. She engages with every member of the team, cheering them up if they havenít had a chuckle in a while and supporting them in carrying out their duties.î
As part of the Awards evening, all attendees received a VIP trip to London to collect their award at the House of Commons. This included accommodation in a top four-star hotel for Carrie and a guest of her choice, and a luxury evening river cruise along the Thames. To celebrate her commendation, Carrie was presented with a certificate and a bottle of champagne, donated by Award sponsor Swift Employee Benefits.
Jane Atherton, Managing Director of Huntress said: ìWe are absolutely thrilled that one of our star candidates has received this well deserved level of recognition for her achievements and effort, Carrie should be extremely proud. The ceremony itself was a highly enjoyable and successful event, and we would like to say a big thank you to all our excellent candidates for their continuous hard work.î
