Survey by CareerXroads and AfterCollege.com
In July 2008 CareerXroads and the job site, AfterCollege.com completed a survey of 500 students – undergraduates, graduates and recent alumni. The purpose of this study was to determine how this group of relatively new job seekers is looking for jobs. Gerry Crispin of CareerXroads notes, ìItís obvious from the results of this survey that the most networked generation has a blind spot. Two thirds of them will not use their network to work their way into a job by proactively connecting to an employee in their target company.î
Other survey highlights:
Theyíre doing their research: 78% responded that they are extensively researching companies and positions in which they are interested.
Theyíre going it alone: 22% are actively seeking advice and help from parents or career services.
