Holidays wasted

One third of office workers too busy for holidays

Nearly one in three office workers in the UK take less than half of their holiday allowance as they feel that they are too busy, according to an online poll conducted by OfficeTeam, a leading provider of specialised administrative personnel on a temporary and full-time basis.

The poll also reveals that 39 per cent cram in their holidays in a hurry before Christmas. These hastily arranged end-of-year holidays could leave offices short-staffed and lower productivity in December.

Only 18 per cent of office workers take all of their annual leave, feeling that their days were there to be used, while 13 per cent said that the number of days holiday that they take within the calendar year didnít matter as they roll over to the next year.

Victoria Sprott, Regional Director for OfficeTeam comments:

ìThis poll reveals that UK office workers really need to get themselves organised when it comes to taking their annual leave. Both employees and employers alike have very little to gain from staff not taking their full allocation of holiday days. As the poll shows, employees end up either not taking their holidays or having to cram them in at the end of the year. We at OfficeTeam recommend that you take all your allocated days and try if you can to spread your breaks out across the year to remain as refreshed and revitalised as possible.î
