Online recruitment business Hiring-Hub.com has been named a finalist in the Local Business Accelerators competition, a ground-breaking initiative launched by Prime Minister David Cameron and Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden that aims to harness the power of local newspapers to give a much needed boost to local economies across Britain. It is the ninth award that Hiring-Hub.com has been shortlisted for since its launch in February.

The nationwide campaign, launched by the Prime Minister in October, will see the successful firms receive £15m of free advertising space in regional newspapers during 2012. Hiring-Hub.com was among ten finalists within Greater Manchester and will now pitch its business to a panel of judges before three winners are selected from the region.

In addition to a substantial allocation of free advertising in the Manchester Evening News, and other MEN Media titles, winners in Greater Manchester will also benefit form top professional advice courtesy of a team of northwest-based business mentors, while one business will be selected from the regional winners to receive personal mentoring from Deborah Meaden.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been named a finalist in the Local Business Accelerator competition,” said Simon Swan, co-founder of Hiring-Hub.com. “It is a fantastic initiative and one that, should we be successful, will certainly boost our business next year within the Greater Manchester region and beyond.

“Hiring-Hub.com is a young business but we have enjoyed huge success this year thanks to our disruptive business model,” continued Simon. “By letting employers set their own placement fees and manage suppliers from our approved network of recruitment agencies online, using our bespoke software, we offer businesses a compelling proposition when they are seeking to recruit experienced staff.”

Three winners from the area will be announced on 11 January 2012.
