The Human Resources department at The University of Nottingham has been honoured at the Higher HR awards for the second year running.

The Higher HR Strategic Development Award, issued by the Universities Personnel Association (UPA) and sponsored by the Times Higher Education Supplement, was presented to the universityís E-Recruitment Project Team in recognition of their success in developing and implementing an e-Recruitment strategy.

The innovative e-Recruitment strategy incorporated:

- A web-based advertising strategy, integrated with an online application and short listing system
- Redesigned recruitment marketing materials on the web
- A web-based recruitment toolkit to support managers through the entire process

In its first year the online application system handled in excess of 16,000 applications, with over 85% of candidates opting to apply online. It is estimated that the web-based advertising strategy will save the University approximately 300,000 per year.

In 2006 The University of Nottingham also won the inaugural Higher HR Strategic Impact award in recognition of their work supporting the overseas campuses in China and Malaysia.

Peter McCracken, Deputy Director of Human Resources, said: ìWe were delighted to win again this year. The team have put a lot of hard work into these initiatives to give Nottingham leading-edge in the sector in recruitment. The successful implementation of the e-Recruitment strategy has brought a twenty-first century approach to recruitment, making appropriate use of new and emerging technologies to make a more effective and more efficient process. It has brought benefits to applicants, managers and the University overallî.

The award was presented at the UPA annual conference at the University of Cambridge on September 13.
