Heard the one about the printer who wants to reduce how much printing you do?

Peninsula, the South Westís largest independent office print provider, is unique in its approach to its customerís requirements as it guarantees year-on-year volume and cost reduction.

Past surveys show that: many of us waste up to 10 per cent of what we print out in the office with up to 17 per cent of printed material consisting of emails and web page print outs and 25 per cent of colour print being ìaccidentalî, says Nick Orme, Chairman of Peninsula.

Using a range of special software Peninsula shows clients how they can reduce print volumes, convert colour to black and white, analyse their usage and eliminate waste. This approach can save clients up to 60 per cent of their costs and the software itself can be free, as is the case with WebJet Admin, or included for minimal cost, as with the aptly named Paper Cut.

Peninsulaís Max McKean explained how North Somerset housing was so impressed with the service and savings that it had doubled its devices order with Peninsula within the first six months of the contract. Max said, ìAll the machines at North Somerset Housing are equipped with e-filing document storage which means that operators can set up their own personal filing system that will hold the documents until you are ready to print – often at the end of the day. E-filing really helps you to think before you print – choosing only to print the first page of an email for example.î

And itís not just large organisations which can benefit from these printing and paper saving devices. In a recent independent survey carried out on digital document management systems and their users, it was found that SMEís could save up to two hours per day in time lost from searching for documents. Add to this the savings made by printing double sided, which could save up to 50% on paper costs, not to mention the benefits to the environment and the attraction of the Paper less office becomes all the more apparent.

When Peninsula first started working with Film and Television company, Aardman Animations in January 2008, it was aiming to save them 38% in printing costs, should the companyís printing requirements remain the same. Aardman has been delighted with not only the costs but also the service, which they consider ëtop notchí and has subsequently increased their device order.
