It looks like the very thing that overseas headhunters have been looking has finally arrived. The Chinese government just relaxed the restrictions on foreign investment in this kind of business.
In the past headhunters had been viewed with suspicion. It was thought that they would work with multinationals to hunt in local PRC companies and hollow them out. Never made much sense but such is the thinking of bureaucrats.
These days local PRC companies are as likely to use them as multinationals. They can have 70 percent of any joint venture they set up, but only if they locate in Pudong, in Shanghai.
All change but everything stays the same. Let’s see how many companies actually take advantage of the change.
