With coverage in The Drum, The Daily Mail, Forbes and even the Daily Star Guru’s spoof advert for the England Manager vacancy has caught the imagination of football lovers, the recruitment community and social media in general.

Posting across PR Week, Brand Republic, NMA, MAD, Campaign, Marketing Magazine, Media Week and Reed, amongst others, Guru received 20k views and over 100 applications in just the first 24 hours of the advert being live.

Integrating experienced midfielders, formulating a plan B playing formation and just beating Germany are just a few expectations listed whilst understanding the beautiful game from grass roots level upwards and being at home in the public eye, whether at an official interview or street heckling were just a couple of the required qualifications.

Richard Hamilton, Marketing Director at Guru commented “With over 1000 Facebook shares and a re-tweet on twitter every 10 seconds it was great to see our little wheeze catch the imagination of online job seekers.  The viral nature of the advert meant that we received some really creative applications.

Richard went on to say:  “People really bought into the spirit that the advert was intended with one jobseeker writing... You brought me (and probably many others) a much needed dose of humour on another tough day on the job trail. Well done!”

With the application deadline Friday just gone Guru will shortly be publishing the top ten most creative applications for a public vote with the results and charitable donations announced to coincide with Sport Relief (23rd-25th March).  Read the advert in full by visiting:  http://www.gurucareersnetwork.com/blog/england-job/ or follow the reaction on Twitter: www.twitter.com/GuruCareers  #EnglandApps
