It is a pleasure to present the Greythorn Salary Index (GSI) for 2006. Now in its fifth year of production, the GSI is a useful tool to monitor remuneration trends in the Australian technology sector and keep track of the demand and supply of IT professionals.
It has been an eventful twelve months for the Australian IT employment market. In the background of domestic economic growth and increasing spend on technology by organisations, hiring of IT professionals is steadily rising to the point where IT job vacancies are almost matching their historical apex/pinnacle. Overall, we have witnessed a strong rise in the demand for permanent hires while the demand for contractors continues to be steady.
