Graduates Yorkshire is celebrating signing up over 30,000 graduates to use its services in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The social enterprise is the leading graduate recruitment service in the region and helps match graduates with appropriate vacancies. It also runs a graduate internship programme, promoting paid internship schemes in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The organisation champions the benefits SMEs and other businesses can gain from employing a graduate. Around 40,000 graduates are produced from the region’s Universities each year.
Chief Executive Martin Edmondson said: “It’s not just Graduates Yorkshire who should be pleased with having 30,000 registered users on our site, employers should be too.”
“The region has a strong pool of talented graduates looking for opportunities in the region and a chance to show how they can help businesses and the region’s economy.”
“They are finding it increasingly difficult to find relevant jobs in the current economic climate and our services are becoming increasingly important to those leaving University.”
“We’d encourage businesses to take a second look at investing in graduate talent as they can add real value to companies, improving their profitability.”
Graduates Yorkshire was established with the support of Yorkshire Universities to close the “knowledge gap” between the region’s universities and its business community by matching graduates with companies looking to make best use of that talent.
Despite Yorkshire having one of the largest Higher Education economies of any region, generating £3 billion of output, the percentage of graduates employed in key public and private organisations in Yorkshire is among the lowest in the UK.
