Global Founder & Group CEO Ashley Tabor has announced the launch of the Global Academy, which will provide work experience and internship placements with Europeís largest commercial radio group for thousands of students over the coming years.

Speaking to a packed hall at the Student Radio Conference being held at Leeds University today (Tuesday 7th April 2009) Tabor committed to provide more than 500 work experience placements per year on an ongoing basis.

He pledged the Global Academy would have a 3 part structure:

* Work Experience Placements
* Internships Placements
* The best being offered gap year placements

Tabor told conference delegates that he had entered the radio industry as a teenager working at the ground level in hospital radio, and how his enthusiasm and drive in those early years were the foundations of Global Radio, and had also helped him formulate the vision for the Group in the future.

In his first public appearance since founding Global Radio, Tabor said he had been looking for something to provide young people with the same sort of opportunities that he had in his early career:

ìI have been trying to find a way, ìadded Tabor,î to harness the passion for radio amongst young people, and to provide them with encouragement and importantly access to the medium. In the coming years the Global Academy will ultimately create a supply of real talent to the commercial radio industry.î
