New Media Workers Targeted

Targeting UK-based New Media freelancers, freelancers.net has gone live. The free site aims to make more freelancers accessible to recruiters by maintaining an open database of talent. The resource will contain profiles of candidates and links to work completed online. A second database of jobs provides the core of a job distribution service, which pushes vacancies out to relevant email lists, newsgroups, and other jobsites.

Freelancers will also be able to submit their CV for distribution to recruiters and agencies - all services are free to use. Co-founder of the site, Andy Stowell, explained ìas freelancers ourselves we are able to fund the site privately, as it more than pays for itself as an indirect marketing vehicle for our own services. We are filling a specific need within our industry, rather than building the next dot com and planning for retirementî.

Currently, freelancers.net holds details of around 2000 freelancers, with over 700 visitors a day looking for work or for freelancers.
