Facebook Page To help Unemployed In North East

A new Facebook page designed by Jobcentre Plus is hoping to help more young people in the North East of England to find jobs

A new Facebook page designed by Jobcentre
Plus is hoping to help more young people in the North East of England to find
jobs.

In an attempt to simplify the recruitment process for A-level and GCSE school leavers, Jobcentre Plus has devised
the new “7 Day Jobs Challenge” page. The page features a huge amount of
information to help young people find a job that suits them.

The initiative is intended to help people stay off Jobseekers’ Allowance and
compete in the busy job market. Last year, almost 12,000 18 to 24-year-olds
signed on for Jobseeker’s Allowance, with more than 1,700 signing on in
Newcastle in August and September 2010 alone.

The Internet plays an increasingly important role in recruitment these days and
launching a Facebook page is also intended to take advantage of the popularity
of social networking among young people in their late teens and early twenties.

Young people can ‘join’ the 7 Day Jobs Challenge by ‘liking’ the page on
Facebook for advice about things like preparing a CV, filling in application
forms, online recruitment and interviewing techniques.
