EMR has been awarded Investors in People status, following a visit by the Standard’s inspectors in November 2010.

Investors in People interviewed a wide range of client facing and support staff asking them if they felt management and leadership were effective; if they were being developed in line with their aspirations; and if they felt supported by the company. As a result, the recruiter has been granted the Investors in People status for three years.

John Telfer, MD of IBP Investors in People London & South East said: “It is clear from the Assessor’s reports that EMR have developed an inclusive culture where the one team approach ensures employee engagement, mutual support and continuous organisational improvement. Alongside a clear vision, and measurable objectives, the positive working environment has contributed to good practice across the organisation to ensure business priorities can be met through hard work and determination (and fun, which is great to hear!).

Simon Bassett, Managing Director, EMR continues: “This was not about a plaque on the wall; Investors in People is a comprehensive management framework that can bring real benefits to our business. The report confirms the drive and direction of the company in providing continuous improvements for our employees and customers, and emphasises the strong commitment we have to maximise business improvements. But it also offered us some useful pointers. For example, we are now developing new strategies around the work life balance as well as some innovative approaches to performance management and CSR.

Investors in People is a management standard administered by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills and supported by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. It was launched in 1991 by Michael Howard who was Secretary of State for Employment at the time. There are almost 40,000 organisations currently working with Investors in People.
