Manchester law firm Burton Copeland has become the first law firm to launch on-site forensic facilities in the light of dramatically escalating cyber-crime and internet fraud which costs the UK over 20 billion a year.

This latest development ñ Burtons Digital - sees the Manchester-based law firm team up with top computer forensics firm AFENTIS, to offer advice and legal representation to those concerned about, or facing charges, in such diverse areas as computer-based fraud, hacking, terrorism and/or child pornography.

Burton Copelandís on-site forensic facilities and certified investigative experts will allow the consideration of digital evidence exhibits so as to assist in defence case preparation.

The launch of Burtons Digital means that Burton Copeland now have a truly unique capacity to genuinely support clients in matters where there is some form of technical aspect to the prosecution case - from financial fraud, telecommunications offences through to evidence identified on websites or computer hard drives.

Recent survey results from the Information Security Breaches Survey 2006 discovered that 97% of businesses have internet connection, and 88% of these are broadband. This new business environment is unfortunately accompanied by new security threats meaning the launch of Burtons Digital comes at a time when it is more crucial than ever.
