Washington D.C. - The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a non-profit think tank and association focused on talent management strategies, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, known for its history of innovation in business education and research, announced today the launch of a new Human Capital Leadership program for the Philadelphia business and professional community. As a key component of the agreement, Wharton will host a live Networking event featuring one of the foremost authorities on the new business science of human capital, Dr. Peter Cappelli.
We are thrilled to be working with the Wharton Center and to have Dr. Cappelli join us for what may be the first of several events, said Allan Schweyer, HCIís Executive Director. The Wharton School is known for being first: the first collegiate business school, the first research center at a business school, the first MBA program for Health Care and other specialties. Weíre pleased that Wharton is continuing that tradition by being the first university in Pennsylvania to partner with HCI to offer this innovative event.
The networking event, a breakfast program on Wednesday, August 31, at 7:30 a.m., will be held at Jon M. Huntsman Hall on the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia. Dr. Cappelli will be addressing the development of managerial and executive talent. He will share with the audience how careers and career paths have changed, how these changes require that companies think about managing talent from a more strategic perspective, and how individuals should now think about managing their own careers.
The Human Capital Institute is the foremost forum and resource for the dissemination of next-generation strategies and ideas on talent management, said Peter Cappelli, George W. Taylor Professor of Management and Director of the Center for Human Resources at the Wharton Center. I look forward to sharing my latest findings at this Human Capital Leadership event. I hope strategic leaders and practitioners across business, academia, government and consulting all come together and take advantage of this unique opportunity to network and share ideas.
