This prestigious award is one of five Employer of the Year Awards organised by Working Families to reward innovation and best practice in the field of work-life balance.

Nominations are encouraged from all sectors and sizes of organisation. The judges will be looking for a proven track record in delivering policies and practices which have a positive impact on the lives of those who have additional and unpaid caring responsibilities ñ but just one good policy or idea could earn recognition.

Research shows that as our population ages, the number of carers will rise from six to over nine million by 2037. Other research indicates that over the next 20 years the economy will draw an extra two million people into employment. This means that unless more people are supported in the workplace to juggle work and care, the UK could face a serious shortfall of skilled labour.

The award will be judged by a panel of employers and professionals in the field of work-life balance and will be presented at a high-profile Gala Luncheon and Awards Ceremony in London on Wednesday 7 December 2005.
