Online recruitment entrepreneur Dan McGuire is calling on business people nationwide to give two hours of their time to support Make Your Mark with a Tenner, the competition that lends young people £10 for a month and challenges them to make a profit.

Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones, and Michael and Xochi Birch, founders of social networking site Bebo, have donated £100,000 each to the Tenner Bank which will allow enterprising young people all over the country to get their ideas off the ground.

Through his social enterprise www.2hrs.co.uk Dan is supporting the initiative and asking for business people to give just a couple of hours of their time in March to support young entrepreneurs as they seek to turn their business ideas into reality.

Volunteers will support participating students by using their expertise and knowledge of the working world to offer advice and guidance to young people trying to turn their ideas into a profit-making enterprise.

All students who take part in the competition will receive a certificate outlining the skills they have developed and the winning team will win a share of £1,000 start up capital as well as support from a business mentor to help them develop their entrepreneurial ideas.

“Make Your Mark with a Tenner is a brilliant way to get young people thinking about business and enterprise” says Dan. “Having a volunteer visit for even an hour makes a huge difference to these students and there are schools all over the country taking part. I guarantee an enjoyable and rewarding experience.”
