Following the consultation, the Government has announced in its pre-budget report that the current rules on Tax relief for Travel Expenses will remain unchanged. However the consultation highlighted poor levels of compliance which must be addressed. The HMRC will now focus its efforts to make sure that the current regime is properly applied and if compliance does not improve, then the Government may return to this issue at a later stage.
The REC has welcomed the news and is continuing to support the HMRC on non compliance and the misuse of dispensations. Software solution providers Zeel Solutions are forecasting a busy period as their unique software solution Ztravelex calculates the Travel & Subsistence allowances, whilst ensuring compliance in line with the HMRC and the approved dispensations.
Rav Cheema, Managing Director of Zeel Solutions embraced the news from the government and hopes the publicity will raise the profile of Travel & Subsistence and the need for a solution to enforce compliance.
ìMany recruitment agencies are still unaware of the tax exemptions that are available which could benefit them and their temporary workers, whilst others simply do not have a software solution to calculate the allowances and ensure compliance.
ìWe offer Ztravelex directly to employers (recruitment agencies) as an alternative to using umbrella companies. This puts employers in total control of their dispensation, compliance and the expenses that are paid directly to their workers,î commented Rav
ìCompliance should not be a concern if you have the right software solution to calculate the allowances and in Ztravelex we use the latest web development and integration tools to deliver an advanced solution that integrates seamlessly with employers existing payroll systems,î added Rav.
