400 college leavers and graduates from 16 colleges across the UK will be put through their paces by leading graduate recruiter Angela Mortimer at its annual ëReality Bitesí event at Londonís Sugar Reef, Windmill Street, Piccadily Circus on 10th May from 11am - 4pm.
The event, now in its 16th year, prepares college leavers for the work place. The CV clinics, mock interviews, on the spot ICT and typing tests, together with seminars presented by high profile organisations such as Eversheds and Ernst and Young provide attendees with an insight into what to expect from the world of work. Students also receive important advice on how best to prepare for their first jobs in order to ensure their success.
Silvia Ampaw, Skills Tutor at St Jamesís Lucie Clayton commented, ìOur students have attended Reality Bites for the past three years. The event is unique because it places students in a totally new environment, where their ICT and interview skills are objectively tested by professionals for the first time. The day is completely interactive, which makes it so popular. The CV clinics, on the spot typing tests and the opportunity to learn first hand from industry leaders and consultants about what to expect from the commercial world is invaluable.î
This year, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with prospective employers, such as Eversheds, in small groups, which will provide them with the opportunity to really quiz them about their industry sectors and to learn what qualities they are looking for in their new recruits.
Angela Mortimerís consultants will also be on hand providing careers advice, including how to succeed in tough interview situations, what to expect in terms of entry level salaries and how candidates should dress if they want to impress their new bosses. The consultants will also provide information on the companyís work experience programmes, as well as the types of entry level opportunities available to candidates registering with Angela Mortimer.
Rashda Javeed, graduate recruitment executive at Angela Mortimer commented, ìAs competition in the graduate recruitment market intensifies each year, we have seen an increased demand for places at Reality Bites.î
ìOur goal is for each student to go away from Reality Bites feeling more confident about their skills and their interview techniques and to have a completely realistic picture of the opportunities available to them in different industries. We are confident the event provides the head start that todayís college leavers and graduates need to get ahead in the market.î
