Over 250 Scottish hospitality business leaders attended Caterer.com's inaugural Best Employers in Hospitality Awards 2010 last night at a glittering ceremony at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh.
These new awards are a celebration and acknowledgement of the top employers in the industry and there is a factor that makes them even more prestigious; the judges are the people that know the employers best - their employees. said Caterer.com's Ian Burke.
Employers who entered the Best Employers in Hospitality Awards were judged using an online employee engagement tool, provided by talent specialist, Learnpurple.
The awards were presented by BBC comedian and presenter Fred MacAulay who introduced each category and welcomed the nominees up onto the stage to collect their award.
Collecting the top accolade as Best Individual Contract Caterer Employer and overall winner was Hudsons Catering who's onus on employee care shone though in the results. Also in the contract catering category was Prestige/Sodexo Scotland who picked up the Best Group Contract Caterer Employer Award.
Best Individual Hotel Employer went to The Horsehoe Inn, Eddleston by Peebles in the Scottish Borders with the Best Group Hotel Employer category being picked up by Marriott UK & Ireland.
In the Bar/Pub category, 1901 collected the award for Best Individual Bar/Pub Employer with the Best Group Bar/Pub Employer Award going to The Orchid Group.
The winner of the Best Group Restaurant Employer Award pipping runner up Howies Restaurants was Ask Restaurants Limited with over 2,500 staff.
Best Visitor Attraction Employer was M&D's Scotland's Theme Park alongside The Majestic Line who scooped Best Tour Operator Employer.
Finally in the Best Supplier to the Industry Employer category, the winner was Xpress Recruitment.
Caterer.com sales manager, David Shirra commented: With over 200 Scottish employers entering the awards, the competition was extremely intense and all of the runners deserve special credit as top employers.
