Washington Post joins Tribune in online venture

The US newspaper tycoons, the Washington Post and the Tribune Company, are forming a new company, called BrassRing, to seize a section of the online recruitment services.
The Washington Post is pulling in resources from its Kaplan Educational Centers and HireSystems units. HireSystems, which converts millions of CVís into a searchable databases for companies such as Goldman Sachs, will become a entirely owned BrassRing subsidiary. BrassRingís Kaplan career assessment services can direct job seekers to training that can lead to certification in their careers and degrees. It may also benefit from the referrals to Kaplanís law school, Concord Law School, and testing training.
ìWeíre going to be providing people with a whole slew of assessment products to help evaluate where they stand in their career,î stated Jonathan Grayer, Kaplanís chief executive and BrassRingís chairman. ìItís much more than a place to go for job listings.î In the physical world, BrassRing.com will offer Kaplan job fairs, inviting candidates that employers have allready screened online.
