BPs head of exploration and production recognised for outstanding leadership

Dr Tony Hayward, BPís chief executive of Exploration and Production, has been recognised by the Chartered Management Institute for outstanding leadership and his determination to raise the standards of management in the energy sector

Dr Tony Hayward, BPís chief executive of Exploration and Production, has been recognised by the Chartered Management Institute for outstanding leadership and his determination to raise the standards of management in the energy sector.

Dr Hayward has been appointed a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute ñ an accolade only given to individuals who have made notable and consistent contributions to their business sector. By accepting the award he joins a select band of leaders chosen each year, including well-known figures such as Henry Engelhardt, Chief Executive of Admiral Group plc and Richard Greenhalgh, chairman of Unilever UK.

As a Companion, Tony Hayward will support other leaders from business, the public sector and voluntary organisations to influence the development and direction of management practices within the UK. His knowledge and experience has been gained through various positions with BP group since 1982, including president of BP in Venezuela and executive vice president of BP Finance. Dr Hayward will also have the chance to shape the direction of the Chartered Management Institute and with it, the career development of managers across all industry sectors.
