BPMA launches open days for the industry

The British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA) is to launch a series of open days for the remainder of 2006 running into 2007 as part of its programme to drive education and development in the industry. These new, free of charge open days have been created to bridge the gap between experienced and less inexperienced members of the industry.

On the introduction of the new open days, BPMA Chairman David Lebond commented: ìWe need to remember the importance of keeping abreast of the industry while continuing to polish our skills and maintain professionalism every step of the way. Customers do not accept that problems can occur and expect everyone to be proficient and knowledgeable. Everyone should know about core tasks such as how to fill in a purchase order and why a one-line product description to a manufacturer is simply not enough. They also expect staff to appreciate how artwork and design should be implemented, what the general manufacturing or printing techniques are for certain products, where delays can occur and sign off timing issues.î

The first of the free open days will be hosted by Senator Pens in Harlow, Essex on 21st November, followed by Sanford Brands in Newhaven, Sussex on 5th December. It is envisioned that attendees of this open day will be able to inform clients how pens are designed, manufactured and how their logo will be printed, as well as being able to specify the best pens.

This is the first in what will be an ongoing series of open days to cover as many elements of working in the promotional marketing industry. Further open days include ìHow to use printed plastic imaginatively and effectively for your next promotionî hosted by Reflex Printing, in Tunbridge Wells Kent on 14th February and another open day titled: ìThe role of the Freight Forwarder and how you can benefitî will be hosted by Pace Network in Colnbrook, Berkshire on 14th March.
