Open door showcases operations through online competition

BP, one of the worldís largest energy companies, is launching The Ultimate Field Trip to university students in the UK. The Ultimate Field Trip is an online competition open to all students which offers three lucky winners the chance to visit a BP operational site in one of 100 countries ranging from Angola to Australia.

Students from all academic subject backgrounds are eligible to compete for the chance to bring their learning to life by visiting the operations of the oil ësuper-majorí.

By 2030 the world will need 50% more energy than it uses today. The competition aims to highlight and generate awareness of this global energy challenge to those studying subjects that fall outside the traditional energy mix.

The launch follows last yearís successful trial of the competition which saw a Durham University student travel to the US to spend four days visiting BP in Houston where he learned about BPís work and major projects there.

The expansion of The Ultimate Field Tripreaffirms BPís commitment to meet the energy challenge through a process of education amongst tomorrowís generation.

Destinations for the winners of this yearís competition will reflect their study and career interests. The Ultimate Field Trip competition runs until 27th March 2009 and the winners will be notified soon after.
