Boyden Interim Management Limited, established interim management providers, has appointed 43-year-old Steve Birtles as a director based at its London HQ.
Steve, originally from Blackpool, joins from KPMG Interim Management and will specialise in finance, IT and programme management interim recruitment in both the private and public sectors.
Nick Robeson, Chief Executive of Boyden Interim Management and Chairman of the Interim Management Association, said: 2004 may have been an inconsistent year for the interim management industry, but 2005 is seeing a clear increase in demand, and yielding a good crop of fascinating assignments.
As a consequence Boyden is seeing good growth, and Steve will lead a team operating in three of the most dynamic areas - finance, IT and programme management.
Steve, who has been in executive contract recruitment for 11 years, said: The interim management industry is in a very interesting phase, with clear indications of an increasing need for senior professionals who have experience of change and driving change.
The interim provider sector is maturing well, and interim management as a whole is finding its way on to the boardroom agenda as a recognised resource.
However, there is still a job to be done in educating potential decision-makers on the true extent of opportunity to be created by bringing in interim management at times of urgent change - whether that change is pro-active or defensive.
I made the decision to join Boyden because I can see how much Nick and the team are achieving in terms of raising the profile of not just our business, but the industry as a whole.
Steve lives in East Grinstead with his wife and two children. He is an archaeology graduate from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and a former member of the Parachute Regiment.
