Businesses interested in the 2006 BCS IT Professional Awards still have time to make their entries. The remaining categories, including the Presidentís Award, Women in IT, Mobile Computing and the Individual Excellence awards close for applications on 30th June. The winners will be announced in December.
Each year the President introduces a new category, this year Charles Hughes announced that ìInvestment in Information Securityî would be the subject for his award. He explains: ìInformation security is one of the biggest challenges for any CIO and business. This award will recognise organisations that show how their business orientated approach to information security has created real benefits for their business.î
Expectations are also high for this yearís Women in IT and Mobile Computing awards. Sopra Newell and Budge, winner of the Women in IT category in 2005, was recognised for its outstanding attitude to women in business and IT in a company where women represent more than half the companyís board and senior management staff. The Mobile Computing award 2005 was given to eCourier for their innovative use of GPS, easy to use online booking system plus the development of a street level tracking device which provided unprecedented levels of efficiency, reliability, transparency and customer confidence.
The BCS awards have very quickly established themselves as the leading hallmark of success amongst practitioners in the IT industry today. As standards of sophistication, business acumen and skill in the IT world are continually developing, the role of IT and its effective management is critical across the whole spectrum of business. The cross-industry awards recognise, promote and acclaim excellence, professionalism, innovation and the outstanding achievements to which individuals and groups contribute.
