Barclays today announced a further appointment to its Corporate & Employer Solutions (C&ES) business as it continues to expand and strengthen its suite of solutions to meet the employee benefits needs of its corporate clients.

Jonathan Parker has joined Barclays C&ES  to lead the development of its investment proposition. Jonathan’s appointment follows the arrival earlier this year of investment professionals Jesal Mistry and Lydia Fearn who joined Barclays from Aon Hewitt and Lane Clark & Peacock, respectively. Jonathan will be responsible for investment strategy, bringing together the best of Barclays and wider market capabilities to develop a market leading pension investment proposition for the workplace.

Jonathan joins Barclays from Zurich Corporate Savings where he worked for several years as Head of Corporate Wealth Investment Strategy. Prior to this, he was a senior investment consultant for seven years at Towers Watson.

Jonathan will be based in London and will report to Katharine Photiou, Head of Workplace Savings at Barclays Corporate & Employer Solutions.

With a sophisticated research and investment strategy division incorporating over 400 investment specialists and practitioners around the globe and a proprietary investment philosophy, Barclays Wealth & Investment Management has an exceptionally strong investment proposition; the Barclays C&ES Investment team will be taking this expertise, together with their own client advisory experience to the DC investment market.

Commenting on the appointment, Katharine Photiou, Head of Workplace Savings at Barclays Corporate & Employer Solutions said: “Jonathan joins our team at an exciting time in the development of our investment consulting proposition which we will be formally launching in the coming weeks. At Barclays, we believe there is a need for a fresh look at workplace pension investments. Jonathan will focus on how we can apply the enormous depth of resource and expertise that Barclays has in investment fund research and our leading approach to behavioural finance to improving retirement outcomes for members.”
