AdView Director Kevin Brady discusses job market trends

It’s hard to remember a time when the UK job market has been under as much scrutiny as the present.

The decision to leave the EU has seemingly focused more attention than ever before on employment figures, salaries, job creation and anything else generally considered a vital indicator of the economic climate.

With the debate about the impact of Brexit raging on it seems harder than ever to know which (often contradictory) studies, reports and statistics we should believe.

This is why one UK job search site will from next week be hosting a regular column on Onrec using it’s own accurate, real time data with the aim of providing a more straightforward picture of job market trends.

AdView’s Kevin Brady said of the column: “Whilst it’s more difficult than ever to know what sets of stats and figures to believe when it comes to the job market, large job aggregators like AdView are in a unique position being able to access large-scale, real time data.

“Being one of the largest UK job search sites, we have a large database of accurate and reliable statistics which we can use to predict trends and analyse which sectors are performing well and which less so.

“This data can, among other things, help recruiters make more informed decisions when recruiting for major job sectors in 2016” added job expert Brady.

Whilst some sectors have performed well since Brexit others have less so.

The Associate of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) have reported that the number of graduate jobs has fallen 8% on last year. Despite this, data from IHS market shows that construction is going strong and showing clear signs of promise.

Brady continued: “Our database shows a complex picture of what’s emerged so far in the post-Brexit job market. Whilst certain sectors have seen an increase in the number of published jobs - finance for example - others have seen a decrease in hiring.

“Over the next few weeks we’ll be analysing and breaking down these statistics further to give a more in-depth and whole picture of job market trends.”
