O2 is calling for the UK’s brightest talent with a passion for technology to apply for its 2017 graduate intake.
Applications open on 14th November for 40 places on the 2017 Graduate Programme, offering roles across 6 critical skill areas including Finance, Technology, Data & Analytics, Relationship & Vendor Management, Commercial Strategy and Digital.
Graduates can apply to any one of these skill areas, with the majority of programmes lasting for 2 years (Finance programmes are 3 years). The majority of roles are located in O2’s Slough Headquarters, but places are also on offer in O2’s offices in Leeds and other parts of the UK.
This year O2’s Graduate Programme will be more accessible than ever before, with only the Finance programme requiring a degree classification (2:1 or higher in any subject). CVs will not be used for selection, however for successful applicants they may be referred to during the interview stages. This is intended to give applicants an increased opportunity to showcase their natural digital skills, abilities and passions, rather than being judged exclusively on academic achievements.
Ann Pickering, HR Director at O2 said: “With technology continuing to evolve at an ever increasing pace there’s no denying that young people are at the forefront of a digital revolution. We currently have 190 young people employed on one of our young talent schemes, from apprentices to graduate trainees, and we’re lucky enough to see the genuine value that they bring to our organisation every day.
“Ultimately, we recruit for attitude and train for skill so we want to bring 40 graduates into the business who are ambitious and above all, excited about a career at O2. We’re looking to see enthusiasm and passion shine through in their applications and if successful they can look forward to receiving quality training and support they need to their careers.”
Tom Skidmore, former Graduate, now Commercial Marketing Manager at O2 said: “The graduate programme has provided me with some great learning experiences and opportunities over the past two years, which I will take with me for the rest of my career. It enabled us to build a solid foundation for our careers, whilst acquiring the skills and confidence to advance ourselves even further and progress in the wider business.
“One of the great things about the programme was the amount of opportunities and exposure we were given. The freedom to seek out the opportunities you wanted ensured our introduction to life at O2 was enjoyable but challenging. Right from the start we experienced a high level of responsibility which proved to be a huge benefit, particularly for my career now.”
