CompareMyRecruiter.com – “the site for recruitment agency reviews and industry news”. A brand new website where job seekers and employers can submit their own, and read other’s reviews about recruitment agencies, aimed at improving industry standards and helping people make more informed decisions when choosing and working with recruitment agencies in future.

In late March 2012, CompareMyRecruiter.com was launched by an ex-recruitment consultant, who came up with the idea whilst working in the industry – upon realising just how bad the general perception of recruitment and employment agencies and their employees, rightly or wrongly, appears to be.

Regularly speaking to 100’s of people per week, albeit job seekers, employers or hiring managers, the general consensus appeared to be that recruitment agencies and their employees are all “commission [money] driven and quite frankly couldn’t care less about people”, which would appear strange given that this industry revolves around people.

An example, from the Guardian’s Careers page: the most “recommended” comment, with 32 recommendations, from a live Q&A session titled “using a recruitment consultant”, said:

“…Yes there are some good ones out there, but the vast majority are scumbags who would sell their granny for an extra £1 an hour.”

Despite this apparent perception, we know from personal experience this isn’t true for all recruitment agencies, so this website was set up to provide a platform for people to share their experiences, so agencies receive the recognition they deserve.

With the ability for job seekers and employers to leave a rating and reviews about recruitment agencies they’ve used, this brand new website will help people make more informed choices when choosing and working with a new recruitment agency, a decision which can prove very important in a job search or filling a vacancy.

And for recruitment agencies, CompareMyRecruiter.com allows businesses to differentiate themselves from their competitors, in what could be considered a particularly tough marketplace, based on their own customer’s ratings and reviews.

Looking at the impact that other ratings and review websites are having is quite astonishing. Consider sites like TripAdvisor and TrustPilot have had on their respective industries, causing affected businesses to improve their service or simply lose out.

As Seth Godin points out in his popular online blog, business may try to ignore the system at first, but when they notice the impact the reviews are having on their reputation, their competitor’s reputations and ultimately their bottom line, they cannot ignore it. Some try to cheat the system with fake reviews or try to stop negative feedback but this isn’t feasible long term. The only realistic option therefore – to provide amazing customer service. This is precisely what CompareMyRecruiter.com hopes to achieve.
