During the month of August Leisurejobs.co.uk, the UKís on-line provider of jobs for the health & leisure industry, is offering hundredís of free full-size bottles of Sunsense Sport Gel SPF30 and Daily Face SPF60 sun lotion to their ëoutdoorí permanent and temporary staff (nearly 200,000 visitors each month).
With the latest news that malignant melanoma is up by 43% during the past decade, the partnership with Australiaís number one suncare brand, Sunsense, forms part of an on-going awareness campaign to encourage both coaches and clients to ëplay safe in the suní. Sunsense are also providing trial size samples for coaches to pass onto their clients so that the ëPlay Safe In the Suní message reaches sporting enthusiasts too.
A internal survey carried out by Leisurejobs amongst a database of coaches revealed that only 46% of outdoor fitness staff use adequate sun protection when working outdoors, and of those who did use sun protection 21% admitted that they do not apply as often as they should especially as their active jobs cause them to sweat off lotion faster than an average sunbather. Those polled include tennis coaches, lifeguards, mountain bike instructors, walking guides and adventure holiday staff who are exposed to the sun on a daily basis, often all day long.
Marc Moreso, MD Leisurejobs comments, ìWith over 92,000 trained instructors in the UK we know that many of these work outside during hot summer months. Comments from candidates and staff indicated that they thought they didnít need to use an SPF as they already had a ëbaseí tan. This of course is not true and we hope that by offering free sun lotion it will help them to think about playing safe this summer.î
