Contracting specialist welcomes major opportunity in hospitality sector

Contracting specialist Nova has welcomed a major opportunity for temporary workforce in the hospitality sector, as the Government targets 40 million tourists by 2020.

Nova Contracting Director Marcus Green comments: "The hospitality sector is now the UK's fourth largest industry worth some £143 billion. It's responsible for creating one in five new jobs since 2010 and according to the British Hospitality Association, is set to create a further 100,000 new jobs by 2020.

"That's great news for recruitment generally, but provides a major opportunity for temporary workforce as hotels and restaurants seek to meet seasonal increases in demand. We are seeing a substantial increase in registrations for contractors with hospitality industry experience.

"Following the UK decision to leave the European Union, the weakening of the pound against other major currencies has made the UK a more attractive destination price wise for foreign visitors. There is also a resurgence in so-called 'staycations' as foreign travel becomes more expensive.

"Although lower economic forecasts could put pressure on business travel, all the signs are that the UK hospitality industry is set for sustained future growth. Temporary workforce is a vital part of that equation as employers prepare for a busy Christmas and New Year period and other key spikes in demand set for 2017, such as World Athletics Championships and Wimbledon.”
