A recent online survey carried out by www.greenjobs.co.uk on their renewable energy and environmental jobs websites asked users to vote on the following question – Would you consider retraining to get a Green job?
The survey was run on both www.greenjobs.co.uk and www.greenjobs.ie and the survey results show that 94% of those who participated in the survey would consider retraining to get a Green job while 6% said they would not consider retraining to get a Green job.
Andrew Molony (Commercial Director - Greenjobs) said
“Our research tells us companies throughout the UK and Ireland are ideally looking to recruit domestically rather than going to the expense of relocating these highly skilled employees from the international markets. Retraining is proving essential in order to receive a better paid position with good prospects in any of the top environmental organisations. As the global economy has specifically pinpointed the green sector as an area that will help us get out of this recession, a highly skilled and trained workforce is going to be essential if we want to move forward - just ask Barack”.

“The results of this survey clearly show that jobseekers are actively considering how they will secure a job in the Environmental and Renewable energy sectors. For many candidates this will mean that they have to re-skill and retrain in order to secure a suitable position. Indeed over the last 6 months we have seen an increasing number of candidates contacting us to get advice on what educational courses are available to facilitate this process. This trend is likely to continue in the foreseeable future as economies around the globe move to a Greener economic model and a greater variety of educational courses become available to meet this growing demand from jobseekers”
