Spencer Ogden is excited to announce the appointment of new sector heads in Rail, Aerospace & Defence and Construction as well as new Board appointments as its continued diversification and growth strategy takes shape this year.

The new sectors have been added to the nine existing energy sectors and will become an extension of the established Spencer Ogden brand.

With an increasing number of candidates moving from the energy sector into engineering and manufacturing, Spencer Ogden has been able to expand its business to meet the demands of many of its clients and candidates.

An exciting new era for Spencer Ogden, the new sectors are supported by a £2million investment that will focus on innovative branding, digital investment and new hires.

Rail

Launching the Rail UK division is Richard Thompson, who joins Spencer Ogden from Mane Contract Services, where he held the position of Sales Director and has been working in the Rail sector for 17 years.

Thompson is a qualified electronics and telecommunications engineer with several years of experience in the sector before joining the recruitment industry. His experience covers rolling stock, construction, civil engineering, telecommunications, mechanical and electrical engineering. Joining Richard in the Rail UK team will be Philip Hutchinson who also brings with him a wealth of experience within the Rail sector.

Aerospace and Defence

Spencer Ogden’s new Head of Aerospace & Defence is Mark Jackson, who will grow the sector from the ground up from our London HQ. With five years of experience in the sector, Jackson will focus on the contract market, working to deliver partner services to some of the industry’s key players.

Construction

Outside of the UK, Will Carter has joined the Singapore office to head up the non-energy Construction sector. Carter has been working in Singapore for over six years and will be placing high level construction skills in design and build across the Asia market.

Board Appointments

Greg Morris joins the Board of Directors as Spencer Ogden’s global Head of Legal and Compliance.

Since joining the business earlier this year, Morris has created a first-class legal function, developing the business’s risk and compliance framework. With 15 years of experience at Sthree, Morris has developed an in-depth knowledge of the legal issues affecting the recruitment industry, his unique perspective and experience will be an asset to the SO Board.

John Glover joins the Board of Directors as Chief Financial Officer at Spencer Ogden.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Glover held the position of Finance Director at Hydrogen Group for eight years, developing a Finance & Operations infrastructure to support the transformation of Hydrogen from a London based financial services recruiter to a global multi-practice diversified PLC.

Prior to this, Glover worked for BP for over 20 years, holding a number of senior positions with significant involvement in some of the largest transactions in corporate history, including the merger of BP and Amoco, and the sale of BP Petrochemicals to Ineos.
