JobServe expands into Asia

Online job publisher JobServe today announced their launch into the Asian market with the acquisition of specialist IT job board ThaiITJobs.com, which is the leading niche IT job board in Thailand

Online job publisher JobServe today announced their launch into the Asian market with the acquisition of specialist IT job board ThaiITJobs.com, which is the leading niche IT job board in Thailand. This is one of the job boards under the umbrella of job boards run by the company Thai IT People Co. Limited, which is now a member of the JobServe Group.

Established in 2003, ThaiIT People Co Ltd has established a leading presence in the Bangkok IT sector. With approximately 1,000 clients ranging from local to multi-national companies and a strong candidate database, this acquisition is an ideal platform for expansion in the region.

JobServeís Asian plans include rolling out two additional specialist job boards immediately following the acquisition, launching an Engineering site - ThaiEngineeringJobs.com and an Accounting & Finance site - ThaiFinanceJobs.com.

The three boards will create the foundation for building JobServeís presence in Asia and further form part of the global strategy to widen the reach of candidates for its clients. With serious skills shortages in many Western countries and an increased use of outsourcing in the global market, this will provide employers with access to a new pool of highly skilled and affordable resources.

JobServeís Managing Director, Robbie Cowling said, ìOur first move into the Australian market was successful, in spite of the fiercely competitive conditions, and we have managed to establish a strong IT presence there. We now operate the number two job board in terms of market share in the IT&T sector within Australia, and Thailand presents us with the same opportunitiesî.

JobServe also operates the second and third most popular specialist sites in the US and Canada. These markets represent a membership of over 3.5 million users.

ThaiIT People Co. Ltd CEO Myles Clark is pleased with the opportunities this move presents to the company, saying ìObviously the team is excited about merging with an international group. This move by JobServe supports our belief in the Thai market and we welcome the expertise that Jobserve will bring in terms of technology and managementî. Clark also identifies the benefits that JobServeís global reach into the UK, US, Canada and Australian markets can offer, ìThis will allow skilled Thai job seekers to search for work outside of Thailand, in markets suffering severe skills shortagesî, he said.

JobServe decided on Thailand due to the emerging economy, a strong IT sector and potential for future development.

JobServe plans to expand quickly within the South East Asian region. Robbie Cowling continued, ìCulturally, Thailand will work really well, as English language skills are used in the IT sector, and most Thai people are open minded and keen to embrace progress. The Thai Government is determined to make Bangkok a global hub for finance and IT services and together ThaiIT People and JobServe are definitely going to make an impact, not only in the IT sector, but also other sectors and other rapidly expanding marketsî.

Currently Reuters has a development centre for some 300 more developers and several other international companies have opened their offshore centres in Thailand.
