Prometric to support fifth annual e-assessment question event

World leader in computer-based testing to back UKís biggest event for e-assessment in education, training and professional development

Prometric has confirmed its status once again as Platinum Sponsor of the annual e-Assessment Question conference and exhibition.

Having supported the London event every year since its inception in 2002, Prometric continues to view it as one of the most important dates in its UK calendar. Each year the company invests significant resources to research and analyse the wants and needs of awarding bodies and test candidates in sectors from education to IT and financial services.

This yearís event, with the conference element chaired by BBC correspondent Kim Catcheside, will see Geoff Chapman ñ Prometricís EMEA head of communications ñ speaking on the latest trends in e-assessment.

ìOne of the topics we will explore at the event is how e-assessment has proven so beneficial ñ indeed vital ñ in areas such as professional licensure in banking or IT, yet hasnít seen a significant upswing in schools due to the doubt and scepticism with which it is so often met,î explains Chapman.

ìThis is rather unfortunate, as there exists substantial evidence from other countries and sectors that computer-based testing gives a more consistent assessment of skills and knowledge, while allowing teachers more valuable time to teach.î

This yearís event will feature a live forum including some school and college pupils, in which they will discuss and demonstrate how they have used e-assessment technology to enhance their respective learning experiences.

There will also be an open opportunity for delegates to subject the e-assessment industry to some rigorous questioning on issues from accessibility to reliability, and a lively debate is expected.

On the programme for the event are keynote speeches from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and a range of speakers from education and industry.

Chapman concludes, ìThis yearís e-Assessment Question will be the biggest ever, and will serve as an ideal environment for the e-assessment industry, including Prometric who pioneered it, to show educators and learners alike that e-assessment technology is accurate, secure and cost-effective.î

The e-Assessment Question conference and exhibition runs from 8th to 9th March 2007, at the Shaw Theatre, Novotel Euston, London. More information can be found at www.e-assessment-question.co.uk.
