CollegeGrad.com today released its poll results naming Ernst and Young as the first choice employer by students, among the nation’s big four accounting firms. Respondents selected Ernst and Young as their first choice over PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and Touche and KPMG.
Ernst and Young has established itself as an employment leader, said Brian Krueger, President of CollegeGrad.com. Not only have they continually shown themselves as a top employer in terms of sheer college recruiting numbers, but now even more so as entry level college grads show their employer preference in working for Ernst and Young.
It’s not the largest of the big four firms -- PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte and Touche have a larger number of employees. Its college recruiting numbers are also second to PricewaterhouseCoopers. So what makes Ernst and Young stand out among college grads?
Ernst and Young recognizes that their success, now and in the future, depends on recruiting the best and brightest college grads. We are constantly working to develop new and relevant ways to reach out to the college audience about working at Ernst and Young. said Dan Black, Director of Ernst and Young’s Campus Recruiting. We are committed to building the leaders of tomorrow and today’s students will be the future leaders of our firm and our profession.
College students and recent grads recognize these efforts. They also see some of Ernst and Young’s great benefits and unique company culture. Ernst and Young prides itself in what they describe as a People First culture. Creating a flexible and inclusive workplace is part of our People First commitment, said Black. The firm encourages people to reach both their professional and personal goals.
To facilitate this balance, Ernst and Young offers benefits such as various technology resources for employee’s daily work life, and a number of comprehensive resources for working parents.
Black explains that Ernst and Young is looking for college students and recent grads who bring strong academic credentials and work experience, but also a blend of extracurricular involvement. At Ernst and Young, weíre evaluating how well someone will be able to handle multiple tasks and job responsibilities but, just as important, how well someone will be able to build relationships with our clients and their coworkers.
A company that recognizes the value that today’s students have on tomorrow’s success, and provides mentorship to develop those students, will draw the exact type of candidate they are seeking, says Krueger. Top talent will be drawn to that environment.
